What we do
Our work in this practice group is structured around the records, deadlines, and decisions involved:
- Mandatory compliance with RBI directives for corporate borrowers with credit exposure of ₹5 Crores and above.
- Prerequisite for executing high-value cross-border remittances (₹50 Crores+) via RTGS/NEFT.
- Unlocks renewal and expansion of working capital, term loans, and bank guarantee limits.
- Enhances global credibility and transparency in international trade and cross-border commercial contracts.
- Published on the public GLEIF global database for international counterparty verification.
- Fast-track issuance within 24 to 48 hours upon submission of verified corporate documentation.
How the engagement works
Under RBI Circulars (RBI/2017-18/82 and RBI/2021-22/112), non-individual entities with aggregate bank credit exposure exceeding ₹5 Crores must obtain an LEI code according to phased deadlines. Banks are instructed not to grant renewal/enhancement or fresh credit facilities to borrowers who fail to obtain an LEI. Additionally, RBI Circular (RBI/2020-21/82) mandates LEI for large-value payments of ₹50 Crores and above.
Scenario 1: A corporate, partnership, or trust having total bank loans, CC limits, or overdraft facilities of ₹5 Crores or more.
Scenario 2: An enterprise receiving a compliance ultimatum from a consortium of banks to furnish an active LEI code within 30 days.
Scenario 3: An export/import business transferring or receiving cross-border remittances exceeding ₹50 Crores.
Scenario 4: An entity participating in OTC derivative markets or regulated financial exchange contracts requiring LEI reporting.
Scenario 5: An existing LEI holder whose 1-year certificate validity is expiring and requires swift annual re-validation.
